Notion

It’s Notion, baby! MC. Engineer. Producer. Multimedia guy. Ideas man. Damn, what more do y’all want? Notion has been a busy young man since the release of his debut mixtape It’s My Turn… back in 2006. After bush-bashing a new path in the local Hip Hop scene via his energetic live shows, extensive collaborations, mixtape appearances, and popular downloads on Planet Urban.com.au, Notion has stepped his game up and invested a lot of time into his production and engineering skills. Not only has he smashed out enough hot beats to solidify his production chops, he mixed fifty plus songs for both his latest mixtape, World Domi-NoTiOn, and Cee & Bekah’s The Soul Movement Volume 2, in the space of two months – all the while working night shift. That’s dedication. As a key member of the newly formed collective The Movement Fam (Notion, Cee & Bekah, Tommy Gunnz and Atlanta’s DJ Grain), Notion’s quest to improve his knowledge in the realm of engineering and production has led to a more mature outlook on life, which has filtered down to his music. World Domi-NoTiOn, Notion’s latest opus, is a more lyrically advanced and mature outing, and contains the same electric vibe of his debut – a bangin’ beat selection and fresh original production combine with Notion’s unmistakable swag and delivery. DMC finalist DJ Crusador also came by and lent his skills behind the 1200’s to the mixtape, with laser sharp cuts, slick blends and head noddin’ juggles complimenting the 26 songs. Due to his international mindstate, Notion, along with Cee & Bekah, travelled to the USA, Canada and New Zealand in September/October 2008 for a five week radio tour, appearing on seven radio shows (mainstream, College and independent) in the three countries, as well as networking, recording and building with artists, producers, DJ’s, managers, label reps, promoters and business folk. And the world is starting to really pay attention, with some major blogs sending a lot of love Notion’s way. Notion also recently engineered a collaboration with Cee & Bekah and Kanye West’s first cousin, Tony Williams. And the projects just keep coming. Now that World Domi-NoTiOn is here, things only got busier. The next project is On The Corner of Notion & 9th, a mixtape consisting of all of Notion’s songs over North Carolina resident 9th Wonder’s beats, a nod to the ease with which the MC flows over Mr. Douthitt’s production. The near future will also see the release of the World Domi-NoTiOn LP, which is well under way with production from beatsmiths from all sides of the planet and some big name features. So the raps don’t stop; the beats won’t quit; the mixing can’t chill; the projects never cease. Notion ain’t going anywhere except to work. It’s official. The Movement is here.
