G.C.

G.C. is a producer who knows what he likes to hear. His production style reflects a culmination of over a decade of refinement and technique, and it shows in his finished product. He has been compared to a wide range of producers, yet still manages to keep the sound purely G.C. G.C.’s humble beginnings as a producer began in 1996, where he essentially made beats to supplement his desire to emcee. With cheap equipment and pure drive, he forged the foundation which would inevitably become his production style. He looked to the greats for inspiration -- DJ Premier, Pete Rock, RZA, Alchemist, and DJ Muggs. The desire to emcee eventually waned, but his interest in music production did not waver. Fast forward to 2008… G.C. is introduced to KevinNottingham.com through a production partner, and he began to enter remix contests there. After winning numerous contests, he was introduced to the website owner and eventual label manager Kevin Nottingham. G.C. has since produced for numerous artists, including: Trav Williams, Tudakay, Fokis, Malicious, Dasha, and K. Sparks. 93-96 boom bap was the prime era of hip hop production in G.C.’s opinion, and his work demonstrates the love he has for that time period while still maintaining a modern and original vibe.
