DJ Puerto-Roc
Growing up in North Jersey, DJ Puerto-Roc was surrounded by Hip-Hop. When he was 12 that love transformed into a desire to be part of the Hip-Hop culture not just a onlooker. Puerto-Roc decided he was going to be a DJ. With a set of turntables he started a life he never imagined. The young Puerto-Roc taught himself the art of the DJ. Working on mixing, blending, matching, and of course scratching. Soon he was making mixtapes for the kids in the neighborhood in which he grew up. Never did he imaging by the age of 16 he would be working the Jersey club scene. As word of his skills on the turn tables and with the crowds grew he became a sought after DJ. By the time he was 18 he was touring the world with artists such as Twista, Kurupt, K-Solo, Craig G, Sadat X and The Lords Of The Underground.
With those accomplishments Puerto-Roc decided not to stop there. His natural talent and love of Hip-Hop easily transitioned hip from the DJ booth to the recording studio. Puerto-Roc added producer to his resume. Producing records for the artists he toured with as well as Canibus,Cymarshall Law, Ready Rock (Gilla House), El Da Sensei and Black Rob. In between holding it down as the tour DJ for Canibus (10 years strong and still going), producing, DJing for artists and events such as 3 consecutive years for the Rocksteady Anniversary and Hip-Hop festivals all over Europe he also was am A&R for the legendary producer D/R Period of Rockboy Records. Once again he couldn’t just stop there. While fulfilling his roll as A&R for various artists including MOP he fell back onto his first love DJing for them as well as engineering songs for their debut album.
Currently Puerto-Roc is furthering his Hip-Hop influence by combining all his skills and knowledge to keep Hip-Hop alive in its pure lyrical and beat driven form. New projects are being developed daily and the next project of many more to come is the El Da Sensei/Puerto-Roc album.
